Otherwise engaged. How would you like your Twitorial?

As Business Coach @LouiseBJ commented, “For a BlogAngel, you are mighty quiet ;-)” and she’d be right. ‘Til this moment, I hadn’t blogged since December 11th – well not on this blog at least – I’ve been otherwise engaged, so please forgive me and accept my very best wishes for you and yours for 2009 and wasn’t the inauguration uplifting and the snow fun !?

Scrn-grb
So we’re in a recession… well, at the risk of being insensitive to others’ alleged suffering, you could have fooled me!  I got back to work on the 6th Jan and haven’t had a quiet moment since – s
o yet again, I find myself with plenty to say, but no clue where to start…

I’ve been twittering sporadically, and was chuffed to bits to be asked by TV & Radio presenter Jeni Barnett to design her a Twitter background and give her a couple of twitorials. Go follow her at http://twitter.com/JeniBarnett – say hi from me.

Staying with Twitter…  I’m 98% sure I’ll be offering group Twitorials (Twitter training tutorials) as so many people are asking me what they should be doing with Twitter. Sure there’s loads of info online, but who wants to wade through all the conflicting advice and work out what applies to them? Not my clients, that’s for sure. The question is, what format would you like that in? Given my current commitments, this will have to be a group thing – so I’m thinking a series of 3 teleclasses, or webinars if you’d prefer, with limited numbers to ensure everyone gets individual attention, but do let me know how you’d like it and I’ll see what I can do. Comment below or email me at the address at the top of this page.

I’m also going to take a new approach to blogging here… and the keywords here are ‘short and sweet’, more thoughts, notes and snippets than full blown articles. My aim in this is to post more frequently and share far more of what I know by keeping things brief. I have no idea how this will go, but nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that. So… still lots more to tell you, but it’ll have to wait awhile or this’ll end up as a thesis and I’ll have fallen at the first hurdle! Ta ta!

Welcome back Claire!! I shall look forward to reading your blog posts – actually short & sweet is a good idea and not just for your posts you understand ;)
I believe one of the side effects and benefits of using Twitter is that we learn to be more succinct!

lol – thank you Louise! You’re right about learning to be more succinct… and I love it too for it’s ‘spontaneousness’ – something I’ve never felt about blogging here – and the fact that I can be Claire and talk about all my interests rather than just BlogAngel. Going to head in there in a bit, so will no doubt see you later :o )

Unlike the other professional networking sites, OySite lets you create separate profiles for yourself and your business!

Interesting idea… I’ve found that attempting to separate my work and personal life is not only impossible, but pointless too. It’s something we all need to get used to – we can no longer separate and ‘control’ our ‘friend circles’ the way we used to – we’re all connected. Nevertheless, I’ve joined OySite, and have to say I’m a little disappointed…
    1. I was hoping that because it allows separate profiles, I’d be able to add ALL my business roles. But no… seems like another networking site that insists that everyone only has 1 job or business. What about serial entrepreneurs and portfolio workers?
    2. No url linking in discussions? Why not?
    3. A limit on the number of characters available in any one group message? (That’s fine for Twitter – but rubbish on a discussion thread.)
    4. No real information about who’s behind the site nor help or feedback function that I could see.
    5. I tried 3 times to add my friendfeed url to my profile – each time it told me I’d been successful – but no sign of it in my profile.
    6. Much of the activity in the groups looks like its been done by ‘rent-a-member’ which I’d expect if the site was labelled ‘beta’, but it’s not.
What’s more – you don’t appear to be a member Richard – could your comment above be spam too?
    Tut tut Oysite.
Not the best way to attract members and not very social!

In your Twitter-experienced opinion, do you think it would be a good place for a newsletter drive?
I just took over the design dept. for a San Diego Business Magazine http://www.sandiegometro.com and we have a really, reaaly comprehensive Daily Business Report that goes out every day. Right now it only has a couple of thousand subscribers and I think it ought to be 3 times that. Is it a match or just another way to waste time that I don’t have?

Hi DesignGuy – what a great question! My answer – in typical Libran fashion – would be ‘yes’ and ‘no’… it depends. :o ) I have to go out now, but when I get back, I’ll elaborate on that in a post :)
