Great article - I have trouble separating my emotions from my decision making (though the problem is far more prevalent in my personal life than my professional).

I think the key is knowing when your emotions are affecting your thought processes and then telling yourself to put your decision making aside until you've got a clear head back on.

It's difficult, because emotions can be powerful things, but I think learning how to do this will make you a stronger person in every area of your life.

Sadly, I had never heard of Link4Growth before, but after reading all about it it seems like it would really benefit my small business. Thank you for this awesome post!

I highly recommend anyone in business to consider attending a Link4Growth board meeting (conveniently scheduled after 4N networking). Not sure what to expect and wondering if I would be out of my depth, I headed for my first board meeting in Watford last week. My problem was chosen for discussion and I was able to tap into the minds of a group of entrepreneurs who could see my challenge from varying perspectives. So now I had practical ideas of what to do, however the 'how' was still eluding me, as some of it was a bit techie. No problem, more advice was forthcoming and a few days later is still continuing.

To sum up how Link4Growth has helped my business, by example it has led me to have more expansive thinking, feel less alone, have the confidence to become a bit more techie, and has given me a great boost of energy to get things moving. The forum accountability thread is brilliant for keeping on track and pickng p more advice. Can't wait for the next one to move things on further! Thank you Link4growth Watford!

Make the cut? You make it sound like there's some kind of test to pass before you'll be allowed in Christoff!! Sarah, I think what Chris is really saying, is "don't hang around vis booking your place, because they are oversubscribed." :)

And yes Mr O, whilst there's no doubt that the Board Director at a Link4Growth session has an important role, the value is all around the table...

I remember you telling me a story about someone at one of your earliest sessions who, since he'd not been in business long (he'd had a long career in the public sector), was concerned that he'd have nothing of any value to contribute, so wasn't terribly confident or comfortable about being there. But come the day, he was able to offer several valuable insights and suggestions to other people's issues which no-one else had thought of, precisely because of his 'different' background. Brilliant stuff.

Heh Claire what a fantastic Blog post and such an amazing audio with Beryl. In truth, you know what I am humbled... I do nothing except turn up and help get the discussions going, the real stars are those that bring their issues and all the other business people who share their knowledge and experience.

It is a real privilege to be able to Board Direct and watch the wonderful unveiling of solutions and positive energy in the room... I am just proud to be a small part in the revolution that I know Link4Growth will bring to so many people...

... Sarah you will be more than welcome to attend the Link4Growth Board at Watford... visit the Link4Growth.biz website and book in... I am told 16 people are saying they want to come and only 12 will make the cut :-(

Ah - and you'll get to meet Beryl too, and the legendary Otis, and Chris Bown, and the other business women Beryl mentions towards the end of the audio... so many great people to learn from and grow with. In fact, I may yet see if I can grab myself a seat one month if I'm 'dahn sahf'. (Actually, that's another feature I didn't mention... there's no contract locking you in. A lot of mastermind programs require you to commit for several months, don't they?) Anyway... I'm really looking forward to growing Link4Growth here in Wales. If we can emulate the quality and success of the Home Counties' board rooms, I'll be a very happy bunny. :)

I'm definitely up for this - was looking to try to get a mastermind group together down here but it all feels like yet another big task to do. Really like the fact that this is already set up and I just have to turn up - I want to go to the Watford one in September, which I believe is run by Mr Chris Ogle himself! Looking forward to it...

Just seen an interesting conversation on the author's Facebook page which comments on the word 'faithless' in this poem which I want to share...

"it is the most frequently asked question about the poem - and here is my answer to why it is faithless:

I use the word "faithless" deliberately, because it is an uncomfortable word and it is and should be uncomfortable when we break a promise we have made to another, even when we feel we must do so to be true to our own soul. Things change, we change, our awareness changes- and sometime what we thought we could do becomes impossible or simply no longer good for us (and those around us. ) At some point I realized that I could truly trust those around me who were willing to be seen as "faithless" ie- those who would break an agreement with me or someone else if keeping the agreement meant risking damage to their own soul's journey (and of course I am no happier than anyone else when someone breaks an agreement or promise they have made.)

Hope this helps, although the chapter in the book that unfolds this line is, I think :-) better written. Blessings, Oriah"

Hi Martin, thanks so much for dropping in and sharing your thoughts...

I've not come across Peter before, but I found this (and the video about Samsara and Nirvana, from the same conversation at BM, also on his YouTube channel) really helpful. I've stopped being surprised now when the Universe delivers exactly what I need to be reminded of at precisely the right time. :)

Congratulations on your new grandpa status btw! I'm going to share your latest post with a friend of mine... not for the business management insight, but for the fatherhood stuff... He is about to become a father for the first time and is faced with a difficult decision; mega bucks and separation from family, or very good bucks and being there. :)

Look forward to bumping into you again Martin. Either virtually, or (since you are only down the road in Barry) in the real world. :)
